ETS, the creator of the TOEFL iBT test, held its first official in-person TOEFL Experience Day in Pakistan in Lahore on September 17.

The programme brought together 140 participants from Pakistan’s English-language training and international education community.

Participants included English-language trainers, TOEFL preparation professionals, counsellors, educators and channel partners.

ETS experts and senior leaders from its South Asia team led the training sessions.

ETS Explains Enhanced TOEFL iBT Test

The programme introduced participants to four strategic pillars of TOEFL: Fair, Agile, Smart and Tailored (FAST).

The sessions also covered the four skills assessed by the TOEFL iBT test.

These include Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

ETS experts explained the enhanced test format, delivery process and assessment approach.

The sessions also allowed participants to raise questions about the test.

The training aimed to help trainers and counsellors align their preparation methods with the latest TOEFL iBT format.

Trainers Receive Official TOEFL Resources

Participants received official TOEFL preparation and classroom-support materials.

The resources included the TOEFL Overview Booklet, lesson plans, a study planner, TOEFL Practice Online and the pocket edition of the TOEFL Guide.

ETS said the resources will help trainers and counsellors turn technical test information into structured preparation support.

The materials can also help educators guide students through their TOEFL preparation.

ETS Expands TOEFL Access in Pakistan

Pakistan remains an important market for international higher education.

ETS said interest in overseas education continues to support demand for English-language proficiency testing.

The organisation currently has 10 TOEFL test centres in Pakistan.

The TOEFL iBT Home Edition also provides an option for eligible test takers outside major cities.

ETS works with 100 channel partners in Pakistan to increase awareness of the test.

These partners engage students through sessions, seminars and local activities.

ETS Highlights Role of Trainers and Counsellors

Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, said trainers and counsellors play an important role in helping students prepare for international education.

“Pakistan is an important market for international education,” Lalit said.

He said students are increasingly considering academic quality, career outcomes and long-term mobility when choosing international study destinations.

Lalit said the Lahore event brought official test information and ETS assessment expertise directly to professionals who guide students.

He added that stronger knowledge of the enhanced TOEFL iBT test can support informed preparation and help students explore international education opportunities.
