Singer Shae Gill has addressed the online debate surrounding similarities between her song Insecurity and Hania Aamir’s latest track Pablo.

The discussion gained attention after listeners compared the two songs on social media. Some users also accused Aamir of taking elements from Gill’s work.

The debate grew after Gill shared an acoustic version of Insecurity to mark its first anniversary.

Some fans viewed Gill’s anniversary post as a possible response to the discussion. One Instagram user even accused Aamir of taking from other artists.

Gill rejected the suggestion that her post targeted anyone.

“I’ve never been a hater and never will be,” she wrote in response to the comments.

Gill explained that she released her first solo song in September last year. She said she shared the acoustic version this September simply to mark the song’s anniversary.

“I don’t understand how that equals a diss?? I can’t explain myself in every comment,” she added.

The singer also told fans they could enjoy whichever song or discussion they preferred.

Artists Show Support for Gill

Gill’s acoustic performance also received reactions from fellow artists and influencers.

Singer Aima Baig and musician Abdul Hannan responded with emojis. Actor and influencer Momina Munir also asked Gill to release the complete acoustic version.

Singer Annural Khalid praised the song and said it had made her fall for it again.

Influencer Ansar described the acoustic clip as a welcome surprise on his feed. Other users, including Nida Rehman, also praised the performance.

Insecurity Marked Gill’s Solo Debut

Gill originally released Insecurity a year ago as a solo single. She introduced the track on Instagram as a long-awaited release made with producer Mushtaq Elektrik.

The song added to Gill’s growing profile after her breakthrough with Pasoori.

She performed the Coke Studio hit alongside Ali Sethi. The track later became widely known among listeners in Pakistan and abroad.

Gill was also featured as Spotify RADAR Pakistan’s artist. The platform highlighted Insecurity alongside her 2025 releases Gila and Staring At Me.

Her international audience has also grown across markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, Bangladesh and Canada.

The comparison between Pablo and Insecurity has therefore sparked discussion among listeners. However, Gill’s comments indicate that her anniversary post was intended to celebrate her own song rather than respond to the debate.
