BYD-Mega Motor Company (BYD-MMC) has confirmed that its purpose-built New Energy Vehicle (NEV) assembly plant in Gharo is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2026.

Construction of the facility has now entered its final stages. Meanwhile, equipment installation and commissioning are underway as the company prepares the plant for production.

The project has been completed in less than 18 months. As a result, it ranks among the fastest automotive manufacturing developments of its scale in Pakistan.

However, construction is only one part of preparing a modern manufacturing facility. BYD-MMC must now complete equipment validation, production trials and quality testing before volume production can begin.

Equipment Installation and Testing Underway

At present, BYD-MMC is installing production equipment and carrying out commissioning work at the Gharo facility.

In addition, the company will conduct detailed equipment validation before moving towards regular production. These checks will help confirm that the machinery and manufacturing systems perform as required.

Meanwhile, production trials will provide an opportunity to test the complete manufacturing process. The company will also conduct quality checks to ensure that the facility meets BYD’s global manufacturing standards.

BYD-MMC Expands Pakistan’s NEV Manufacturing
