Schultze extended his warm wishes to the people of Pakistan and highlighted the long history of cooperation between the two countries. Pakistan and Germany will mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on October 15, 2026.

The German diplomat said economic ties between the two countries began more than a century ago, well before the establishment of formal diplomatic relations.

He cited the opening of the first office of German company Siemens in Lahore in 1922 as an example of the longstanding economic relationship between Pakistan and Germany.

Schultze described Germany as one of Pakistan’s key trading partners. He also noted that Germany remains the largest importer of Pakistani products within the European Union.

He highlighted the importance of the European Union’s GSP+ scheme for Pakistan’s export sector. Around 90 per cent of Pakistan’s exports benefit from the trade arrangement, he said.

The German Consul General also highlighted the importance of women in Pakistan’s development. He said Pakistan’s future depends on meaningful participation by women across society.

Pakistani women, he noted, are making important contributions in education and business while creating new opportunities and supporting economic and social development.

Reflecting on his experience in Pakistan, Schultze praised the hospitality of the Pakistani people. He said the warmth and goodwill he experienced had given Pakistan a special place in his heart.

He also emphasised the importance of people-to-people contacts in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Germany.

The German diplomat reaffirmed Berlin’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Islamabad. He said both countries remained keen to strengthen their partnership and expand cooperation in the years ahead.

The upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations offers an opportunity for both countries to build on their historic links while exploring new areas of economic and social cooperation.
