DNA Confirms Mir Raza Ali’s Body as Forensic Report Raises New Questions

Karachi, August 12, 2026: Mir Raza Ali murder investigators have received DNA and chemical reports that resolve key questions surrounding the death of the Wafflix owner while raising fresh concerns about how he was killed.

Four DNA samples collected from the body during a post-mortem after its exhumation on Saturday matched reference samples obtained from Mir Raza’s parents, according to sources.

The Sindh Forensic DNA Laboratory at the University of Karachi conducted the analysis. Laboratory officials informed the newly formed investigation team that the DNA profiles confirmed the body belonged to Mir Raza.

Investigators also tested blood recovered from a broken flowerpot near the location where the body was found. The blood matched Mir Raza’s reference samples, sources said.

A separate chemical analysis has added another significant development to the case.

The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi has submitted its report to the new investigation team.

According to sources, the report contains evidence suggesting that Mir Raza suffered a gunshot from behind.

Investigators found a higher concentration of gunshot residue on the back of his shirt, near the area where the bullet struck.

The chemical report also detected traces of a sedative in his blood. It further indicated the presence of acid on his body.

Sources said the bullet entry hole on the back of Mir Raza’s shirt was relatively small, while the exit wound measured approximately six times larger.

The latest forensic findings have added weight to questions raised by the victim’s family over the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police have also expanded the investigation team. DSP Sirajuddin and Inspector Muhammad Ali have joined the team, taking its total membership to seven.

Authorities formed the new team after the victim’s family expressed reservations about the earlier investigation. Evidence emerging after the exhumation also raised questions about the original version of events.

DIG Investigation and Crime Amir Farooqi now heads the new investigation team.

The case began after police discovered Mir Raza’s body at a hilly location in Gulistan-e-Johar at around 11am on July 29. The body carried a gunshot wound.

Investigators later recovered a .30-bore pistol casing from the crime scene on August 6. However, the previous investigation team failed to locate the weapon allegedly used in the killing.

The victim’s family and their lawyer had raised concerns about the progress of the original investigation. They later expressed satisfaction with the formation of the new team.

The case has also come under judicial scrutiny.

A judicial magistrate in Karachi’s East district has ordered police to submit a progress report by August 15.

The case came before the Judicial Magistrate (East), where the previous investigation officer requested additional time to submit an update.

The officer told the court that senior authorities had changed the officer responsible for the investigation and that the newly appointed investigator would appear at the next hearing.

The court accepted the request and set August 15 as the deadline for the police progress report.

The latest forensic findings could now play a central role in determining how Mir Raza died, who was responsible and whether the circumstances surrounding his killing differ from the initial investigation.

Police are expected to examine the forensic evidence alongside the crime-scene findings as the new team works to establish a complete sequence of events.
