MUMBAI: Imran Khan has confirmed his long-awaited return to Bollywood after a decade away from lead roles, announcing that he has completed filming for Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. The actor said the film is scheduled for release later this year, marking his first major project since stepping away from the industry in 2015.

Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Khan revealed that production on the film has wrapped and it is currently in post-production. He described the project as a mature romantic comedy that reflects the experiences and stage of life he is in today.

Netflix Film Marks His Comeback

More than 100 words into the announcement, Imran Khan said Adhure Hum Adhure Tum is his first film in 10 years and will premiere on Netflix.

“It’s my first movie in 10 years. It’s called Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. It’s for Netflix and it is scheduled to come out at the end of this year. It’s a grown-up romantic comedy, age-appropriate to where I am now,” he said.

The actor will share the screen with rising star Gurfateh Pirzada in the upcoming film.

Reunion With Director Danish Aslam

Khan said reuniting with director Danish Aslam made the project feel like a natural continuation of their earlier collaboration on Break Ke Baad.

He explained that both he and the director have gained significant life experience over the past 15 years, which helped shape the story.

“The movie is just like what the team of Break Ke Baad would be doing 15 years later in life. It’s a natural progression,” Khan said.

He added that the film is a deeply personal project inspired by real-life experiences, including marriage, divorce, and personal growth.

Fans Await Big-Screen Return

Imran Khan was last seen in a leading role in Katti Batti (2015) opposite Kangana Ranaut. He later made a brief cameo appearance in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, but fans have waited years to see him return as a lead actor.

Known for popular films such as Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Khan remains one of Bollywood’s most recognisable romantic comedy stars.

He said the film’s release date will be announced once Netflix finalises its streaming schedule.
