The Basketball Tournament continued with high-energy performances in Karachi as five more matches were decided in the Khalid Jameel Shamsi Inter-District Academy Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court, Aram Bagh. Players from several districts delivered impressive performances in front of former cricketer Iqbal Qasim and other distinguished guests.

The event is being organised under the patronage of Sindh Basketball Association Patron Ghulam Muhammad Khan and supervised by BBA President Ghulam Abbas and Jamal Chaudhry. The tournament aims to promote young basketball talent from districts across Sindh through competitive academy-level matches.

More than 100 words into the Basketball Tournament, District Central defeated District Keamari 40-34 in the boys’ competition, while District East secured a 28-24 victory over District Keamari. In the girls’ matches, District Central beat Keamari 12-8, South overcame Malir 10-6, and Malir defeated Korangi 17-12 in another closely contested fixture.

Several players stood out with impressive performances during the day’s matches, including Aniqa Asif, Fabiha Tariq, Sarah Ashraf, Fatima Idrees, Muskan Ghafoor, Laiba Jillani, Mahwish, Hadisha Shah, Aira Imam, Afza Ali, Amina Ashraf, Aniya Adil, Samran Lohana, Shifa Faisal, Haris Shahid, Muhammad Hanain, Moaz Ashraf, Ahsan Iqbal, Abdul Rafi, Abdul Hadi, Muzaffar Iqbal, Raza Amjad, Zaid Ashraf, and Umar Khalid.

The matches were officiated by referees and technical officials Aamir Sharif, Zahid Malik, Muhammad Ashraf, Zain-ul-Abideen Channa, Naeem Ahmed, Nusrat Afzal, and Zaima Khatoon, ensuring smooth conduct throughout the competition.

Former Pakistan cricketer Iqbal Qasim, along with Anwar Saeed, Azmatullah, and Muhammad Farooq, attended the event and watched the matches. Sindh Basketball Association Patron Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Fawad Ali Khan, Ameen Pasha, Tariq Hussain, and several other sports personalities were also present to encourage the young athletes.

On the sidelines of the tournament, Sindh Olympic Association Patron-in-Chief Sheikh Shakeel Ilyas presented a traditional Ajrak to Sindh Basketball Association Patron and Sindh Wrestling Association Senior Vice President Ghulam Muhammad Khan in recognition of his longstanding services to basketball and other sports in Sindh.

The tournament continues to provide an important platform for emerging basketball players while strengthening grassroots sports development across the province.
