Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi met the United Kingdom’s newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner, Ms. Alison Blackburn, at the Governor House. The meeting focused on expanding the UK Partnership through stronger bilateral cooperation. Both sides discussed trade, investment, education, sports, and youth development. They also reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

The two officials agreed that closer cooperation could create new economic opportunities. They said stronger partnerships would benefit future generations and support sustainable growth.

Sports, Investment and Youth Development

The meeting also focused on sports diplomacy. Governor Hashmi proposed friendly football matches between British clubs and Pakistani teams. He said such events would strengthen people-to-people ties and inspire young athletes.

The governor also called for coaching programs with leading British football clubs. He said youth football exchange initiatives would help Pakistani players gain international exposure. According to him, providing world-class training opportunities remains a top priority.

Governor Hashmi also stressed the need to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and education. He said stronger ties between Sindh and the United Kingdom could unlock new economic opportunities.

Deputy High Commissioner Alison Blackburn expressed interest in investment across Pakistan’s ports, agriculture, minerals, and other key sectors. She also praised the Governor House’s initiative to provide artificial intelligence (AI) education to children and underprivileged communities. She described the program as an important step toward preparing young Pakistanis for the digital economy.

Both sides expressed confidence that Pakistan and the United Kingdom can further strengthen their historic relationship. They agreed to enhance cooperation in economic development, education, sports, and innovation. Before leaving, Ms. Blackburn signed the Governor House visitors’ book and recorded her remarks.
