Sindh Ombudsman: Governor Receives Annual Report Highlighting Rs4.29 Billion in Public Relief

Sindh Ombudsman presented its Annual Report 2025 to Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, highlighting public relief exceeding Rs4.29 billion and significant progress in digital reforms, transparency and grievance redressal.

During a meeting at the Governor House in Karachi, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Dr. Sohail Rajput briefed the governor on the institution’s performance, public service initiatives and awareness campaigns.

Governor stresses timely justice

Governor Nehal Hashmi said providing prompt, effective and free justice to citizens is a fundamental responsibility of state institutions.

He said the timely and fair resolution of public complaints strengthens confidence in government institutions.

The governor also stressed the need to educate students and young people about citizens’ rights, public services and grievance redressal mechanisms.

Annual report highlights performance

Dr. Sohail Rajput presented the Annual Report 2025, outlining the Ombudsman’s achievements during the year.

Governor Nehal Hashmi praised the institution’s performance and commended its commitment to transparency, digital transformation and public service.

He said institutions that deliver efficient public services play an important role in strengthening trust in governance.

Public complaints increase

Dr. Rajput said growing public confidence had led to a sharp increase in complaints received by the Ombudsman’s Office.

He said the number of complaints rose from about 7,500 to more than 25,000.

The Ombudsman’s Office also provided more than Rs4.29 billion in relief to citizens during 2025.

He added that the institution now resolves complaints within 90 days.

Awareness campaigns expanded

Dr. Rajput said the Ombudsman’s Office organised 423 open public forums (Khuli Katcheries) and 124 public awareness seminars during the year.

He added that the institution has also launched awareness programmes in universities.

Under the initiative, students are appointed as Brand Ambassadors to promote awareness of citizens’ rights, the role of the Provincial Ombudsman and available grievance redressal mechanisms.
