Iran-US tensions escalated further on Tuesday after the United States launched its 10th consecutive night of air strikes against Iranian military targets. Tehran responded with fresh attacks in the Gulf, while President Masoud Pezeshkian described the conflict as a “full-scale war” with the United States.

The US military said the latest operation aimed to further weaken Iran’s ability to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes targeted military command centres, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities and air defence systems.

Iran Launches Fresh Retaliatory Attacks

Iranian state media reported that Tehran struck two oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US military assets in Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed it launched cruise missile strikes against infrastructure belonging to the US technology company Amazon in Bahrain. The claim has not been independently verified.

Despite the military escalation, Iranian officials said indirect diplomatic contacts with Washington continue through intermediaries following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement.

Shipping Incident Reported in Strait of Hormuz

CENTCOM said commercial shipping continued through the Strait of Hormuz despite the ongoing conflict.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA said rescue teams were evacuating crews from the two damaged oil tankers after the attacks.

Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a tanker reported being struck by an unidentified projectile, forcing its crew to abandon the vessel. It remains unclear whether this was one of the ships mentioned by Iranian authorities.

US Confirms Soldiers’ Identities

The US Department of Defense identified two American service members killed during an Iranian strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

The victims were Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, from Texas, and Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Hawaii.

CENTCOM said a third US service member remains missing after the attack. Military officials later recovered unidentified human remains from the area.

Regional Security Tightens

Jordan’s military said it intercepted three Iranian missiles after air raid sirens sounded across the country.

Kuwait also reported intercepting Iranian drones, while Bahrain said Iranian drones targeted its air navigation systems. Bahraini authorities said airport operations continued without disruption.

Earlier US strikes reportedly hit several Iranian cities, including Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr and Bandar Imam Khomeini, according to Iranian media.

Iranian officials also claimed two oil tankers exploded after entering what they described as an unsafe shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM rejected that account.

The latest exchange of attacks has intensified concerns over regional security, global energy supplies and the safety of commercial shipping in the Gulf.
