Youth Empowerment: Sindh governor, Shahid Afridi pledge support for education, sports and AI

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi have agreed to promote youth empowerment through education, sports, artificial intelligence (AI) and skills development.

The two met at the Governor House on Sunday to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening opportunities for young people. During the meeting, they also reviewed issues related to modern learning, digital skills, extracurricular activities and character building.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor described Pakistan’s youth as the country’s greatest asset and said investing in their education and development is essential for long-term national progress.

He stressed the need to provide young people with access to quality education, AI, digital skills, sports and constructive extracurricular activities so they can compete in a rapidly changing global economy.

Furthermore, Hashmi highlighted the AI Summer Boot Camp at the Governor House, saying the programme introduces schoolchildren to artificial intelligence, digital technology and modern learning at an early age.

He said early exposure to emerging technologies and practical skills would help prepare children for future challenges and career opportunities.

The governor also said sports play a vital role in developing discipline, teamwork, leadership and resilience, adding that the Governor House would continue supporting initiatives that promote education, sports and skills development.

Meanwhile, Afridi welcomed the governor’s youth-focused initiatives and described investment in education, sports and technology as essential for Pakistan’s future.

He praised the AI Summer Boot Camp, calling it a forward-looking programme that would help children develop technical knowledge and prepare for a technology-driven world.

In addition, Afridi said such initiatives strengthen young people’s intellectual, creative and analytical abilities while encouraging innovation, confidence and positive thinking.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that engage young people in constructive activities and help them realise their full potential.
