WhatsApp Mac users are beginning to receive a redesigned desktop app that adopts Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, bringing the macOS experience closer to the app’s iPhone and iPad versions.

According to WABetaInfo, Meta is rolling out the update through the Mac App Store. The redesigned app is currently available to a limited number of users, while a broader release is expected over the coming weeks.

The update focuses on visual improvements rather than adding new messaging features or artificial intelligence tools.

The redesigned interface features a refreshed sidebar, an updated chat bar, a cleaner attachment menu and simplified navigation. These changes align the macOS app with Apple’s latest software design principles and create a more consistent experience across Apple devices.

Meta has also added dedicated sections for Locked Chats and Communities.

Previously, locked conversations appeared alongside regular chats in the Mac app. The latest update places them in a separate section that requires user authentication before access, matching the privacy experience already available on the iPhone.

The company has also moved Communities into a dedicated sidebar section, allowing users to reach them more quickly without scrolling through the main chat list.

WhatsApp first tested the Liquid Glass-inspired interface on iOS last year before expanding it to more users earlier in 2026. Although the Mac app received several smaller visual updates in recent months, this release marks the first complete redesign.

The update supports Apple’s broader effort to create a consistent user experience across the iPhone, iPad and Mac, encouraging developers to adopt a unified design language throughout the ecosystem.

Meta continues to expand WhatsApp’s desktop platform as more people rely on the app across multiple devices for both personal and professional communication.
