KARACHI, September 8, 2026: An inspection team of the Wafaqi Mohtasib has visited Islamabad International Airport to review complaints against federal government departments operating at the facility.
The visit took place on the instructions of Wafaqi Mohtasib Naveed Kamran Baloch. The team was led by Senior Adviser Ahmed Farooq.
Adviser Major General (Retd) Haroon Sikandar Pasha, Consultant Parvez Haleem Rajput and Consultant Khalid Sial were also part of the inspection team.
During the visit, the team observed a lack of coordination among several government agencies at the airport. It directed the administration to strengthen coordination and improve services for passengers.
The inspection team met passengers and heard their complaints during the visit. Airport authorities were also given instructions on the spot to address reported issues.
According to the inspection team, many complaints came from passengers travelling abroad.
The complaints included delays at immigration and alleged unnecessary inconvenience caused by staff of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Airport Security Force (ASF), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Customs.

Passengers also raised concerns about delays in receiving baggage. Poor conditions of washrooms were another issue highlighted during the visit.
The team also inspected facilities designated for elderly citizens and passengers using wheelchairs.
It observed that no representatives were present at some dedicated counters.
The inspection team directed airport authorities to ensure better passenger services. It particularly called for representatives to remain available at designated counters for elderly citizens and women.
The team said passenger facilities should receive greater attention at the airport.
The inspection team also reviewed implementation of recommendations from earlier visits to Islamabad Airport.
It noted that some recommendations had not yet been implemented.

During a previous visit, the team had directed authorities to provide suitable seating outside the cargo area. It had also called for a cafeteria and banking facility at the location.
The measures remained pending, according to the inspection team.
The team expressed dissatisfaction over the delay. It directed authorities to arrange banking services at the cargo centre within one week.
The team also reviewed complaints about high prices at airport canteens and stores.
Airport administration was directed to display market prices and the applicable airport rates for essential goods.
The inspection team also reviewed the procedure for offloading passengers.
Authorities informed the team that passengers who are offloaded now receive written reasons and supporting evidence. A complete record is also maintained, according to the information shared with the team.
The team inspected the “One Window Facilitation Desk” established by the Wafaqi Mohtasib for overseas Pakistanis.
Officials from 12 federal agencies were present at the desk. The inspection team sought information about the nature of complaints received by the agencies.
It also checked complaint and attendance registers.
The team later held a meeting with heads of federal government departments operating at the airport.
The local heads were directed to provide all possible facilities to passengers. Special attention was given to the needs of overseas Pakistanis.
The inspection team has submitted its initial report to the Wafaqi Mohtasib.
