UBL Rural Bank and Universal Agri Tractor Company (UATC), part of the G.M. Group, have joined hands to expand tractor financing in Pakistan. The partnership aims to promote farm mechanization and support the country’s farming community.
The two organisations signed the agreement at Governor House Sindh on October 5, 2026. Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi attended the ceremony alongside senior government officials, business leaders and industry representatives.
Abdul Sattar Narejo, Head of UBL Rural Bank, represented the bank. Meanwhile, UATC Managing Partner Zain Wahab and company owner Wahab GM represented the tractor company.
Under the agreement, UBL Rural Bank will provide collateral-backed tractor financing to eligible farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and rural customers.

In addition, UATC will offer an upfront markup subsidy of Rs100,000 on every tractor financed under the partnership. According to the press release, this subsidy will reduce customers’ financing costs and make tractor purchases more affordable.
The partnership brings together UBL Rural Bank’s agricultural financing expertise and UATC’s tractor manufacturing capabilities. As a result, both organisations aim to help farmers access modern machinery and suitable financing options.
During the ceremony, Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi highlighted the importance of initiatives that promote agricultural development.
He also stressed the value of improving access to agricultural financing and modern machinery. According to the press release, these efforts align with broader government initiatives to strengthen rural communities and support farmers.
Agriculture plays a vital role in Pakistan’s economy. Therefore, better access to modern machinery and responsible financing can help farmers increase productivity and sustain rural livelihoods. These improvements can also contribute to national food security.
Through this alliance, UBL Rural Bank and UATC aim to make tractor financing more accessible to eligible customers. Furthermore, the Rs100,000 subsidy could help reduce part of the financing burden for participating farmers.
