Sindh Expands Digital Education for Special Children

The Sindh government is expanding education and rehabilitation facilities for children with special needs through digital classrooms, satellite schools and teacher training programmes.

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said the government was taking measures to improve education, rehabilitation and empowerment for special children.

Around 20,000 students currently study at 67 special education institutions across Sindh.

These institutions provide free education along with rehabilitation, physiotherapy, speech therapy and transport facilities. Students also receive a monthly stipend of Rs3,000.

49 Digital Classrooms Established

The government has established 49 modern digital classrooms across 37 Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres.

Memon said the classrooms would benefit around 754 hearing-impaired students who face difficulties accessing special education facilities.

The new classrooms include smart boards, e-learning tools and other modern educational resources.

These facilities will give students greater access to digital learning materials and modern teaching methods.

Sindh Expands Satellite Schools

The provincial government has also established 20 satellite schools across Sindh.

The schools will provide educational opportunities to around 476 children with special needs.

Memon said the satellite schools would help children living in areas where access to specialised education centres remains limited.

The programme aims to take special education closer to families and communities that face difficulties travelling to established centres.

Sign Language Teacher Training Programme

Sindh has also launched a Sign Language Teachers Training Programme.

The initiative aims to strengthen teachers’ professional skills and improve communication with hearing-impaired students.

According to Memon, expanding digital classrooms, satellite schools and sign language teacher training remains among the government’s priorities.

The initiatives are part of Sindh’s wider effort to improve access to education, rehabilitation and support services for children with special needs.
