Several people have died after a Middlesbrough crash involving a police car and a passenger vehicle in northeast England, local authorities said Saturday.
Cleveland Police said the collision occurred at around 3:39am local time on a main road near South Bank, east of Middlesbrough.
“Sadly, the collision has resulted in multiple fatalities,” a police spokesperson said.
Authorities are working to identify those who died and contact their families, police added.
Emergency services responded to the crash in the early hours of Saturday. Police have not yet released details about the number of victims or the circumstances that led to the collision.
The force has also not disclosed whether anyone else suffered injuries in the incident.
