The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi group said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 11 drones and a ballistic missile as security tensions continued across Saudi Arabia.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the drones were intercepted over Riyadh, Medina, the Eastern Province and the southern region. Air defences also intercepted a ballistic missile heading towards Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia, according to statements posted on X.
In its latest update on Thursday, the coalition reported intercepting and destroying two additional drones launched towards the southern region.
Earlier statements reported the interception of four drones over Riyadh and Medina, one over Riyadh and four over the Eastern Province.
The coalition did not disclose the launch locations of the drones. It also provided no details about possible damage or injuries resulting from the interceptions.
The latest announcements came a day after Saudi authorities reported four deaths in attacks in the Eastern Province.
Two people were killed by falling debris after air defences thwarted an attempted drone strike targeting an Aramco oil facility, according to the supplied report.
Two others were killed in an attack targeting King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

The incidents have heightened security concerns around critical infrastructure and civilian facilities in the kingdom.
The coalition also reported intercepting seven drones on Wednesday. One was heading towards the southern region, while six were intercepted over Medina and the Eastern Province.
Separately, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics postponed the United Nations Global Data Forum and the Second Saudi Statistical Forum, which had been scheduled for November 9–12, 2026, in Riyadh.
The authority announced that both events would instead take place in 2027. It did not provide a new date in the supplied statement.
Meanwhile, an oil spill from a tanker was detected off the coast of Umm Al Quwain in the United Arab Emirates, prompting containment operations and environmental assessments.
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced the incident on Friday. It said authorities had temporarily closed all beaches and coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain while technical teams assessed the spill.
Officials said the assessments would help determine the safety measures and marine protection steps required.
The ministry also urged fishermen and other sea users to avoid affected areas and follow official instructions.
The announcement followed social media reports from residents who noticed an unusual odour in several emirates.
The ministry said the odours reported in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain posed no health risks to residents.
Authorities are continuing assessments of the coastal incident to determine the necessary response and environmental safeguards.
