International oil prices rose after Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed they had attacked facilities operated by Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company.
Reuters reported on October 4 that the Houthis said they launched ballistic missiles and drones at Aramco facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area.
The claims raised concerns about possible disruption to Saudi oil production. Saudi Arabia remains one of the Middle East’s major crude exporters.
As a result, Brent crude futures rose 81 cents, or 0.79%, to $103.06 a barrel by 10:02 pm GMT. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures also gained 46 cents, or 0.50%, to $91.57 a barrel.

Khurais, which the Houthis identified as one of their targets, ranks among Saudi Arabia’s major oil-producing areas.
However, there was no immediate confirmation of damage to the facilities. It also remained unclear whether the reported attacks disrupted crude production.
The market response reflected concerns that any sustained disruption in Saudi output could put further pressure on global oil supplies.
