KARACHI, September 29, 2026: Muhammad Hanif Gohar has been elected chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) for the 2026-28 term without opposition.
Danish Bin Rauf was elected senior vice chairman, while Khursheed Alam was elected vice chairman through consensus.
The new office-bearers were elected during ABAD’s annual general body meeting held at ABAD House in Karachi.
Three candidates had initially submitted nomination papers for the chairman’s position.
They were Muhammad Hanif Gohar, Muhammad Hanif Memon and Fayyaz Ilyas.
However, Muhammad Hanif Memon and Fayyaz Ilyas withdrew their nominations in favour of Gohar.
ABAD members subsequently elected Gohar unopposed.
The members also elected the new office-bearers by consensus for the 2026-28 term.
ABAD Patron-in-Chief Mohsin Sheikhani praised the outgoing office-bearers for their work.
He said the previous leadership addressed members’ concerns during difficult economic conditions.
He also credited the team with supporting the construction sector and contributing to economic growth.
Sheikhani said unity among ABAD members had helped strengthen the organisation.
He added that the government gives importance to proposals put forward by ABAD on construction and economic matters.
Sheikhani expressed hope that ABAD members would remain united and continue supporting national development.

He said the unity demonstrated during the elections should continue in the future.

He expressed hope that the outgoing leadership would continue contributing to the construction industry.
Outgoing chairman Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi congratulated the newly elected office-bearers.
He praised Mohsin Sheikhani for his guidance and support to ABAD leadership.
Bakhshi said the previous year had been economically challenging for the construction sector.
He said ABAD faced several major challenges but continued to achieve progress with the support of its leadership.
Bakhshi said he expected the new team to build on those achievements.
He noted that ABAD has contributed to Pakistan’s development for more than five decades.
According to Bakhshi, ABAD members have helped provide housing to millions of people.
