Meezan Bank Achieves PCI DSS Certification to Boost Payment Security

KARACHI: PCI DSS certification has strengthened Meezan Bank’s commitment to payment security after the bank successfully achieved PCI DSS v4.0.1 compliance following an independent assessment by Risk Associates, a globally recognised PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).

The certification confirms that Meezan Bank has implemented internationally recognised security controls to protect cardholder data across its growing digital banking and payment ecosystem. It also highlights the bank’s continued investment in secure and reliable banking services for its customers.

Risk Associates formally presented the PCI DSS Certificate of Compliance during a ceremony attended by senior officials from both organisations. Dr. Aftab Rizvi, Chairman of Risk Associates Group, and Navaid Naqvi, CEO and Country Head of Risk Associates Pakistan, presented the certificate in the presence of Fahd Azam, Chief Information Security Officer at Meezan Bank.

The ceremony also brought together Kashif Ali, Head of Business Development at Risk Associates, Syed Tariq Hassan, Chief Risk Officer at Meezan Bank, and other senior representatives.

Dr. Aftab Rizvi said the certification reflects Meezan Bank’s proactive approach to payment security and regulatory compliance. He noted that Pakistan’s financial sector continues to expand its digital services, making strong cybersecurity and customer trust more important than ever. He added that the achievement sets a benchmark for financial institutions adopting global security standards.

Fahd Azam said the PCI DSS v4.0.1 certification reaffirms Meezan Bank’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of payment security and customer data protection. He thanked the Risk Associates team for its technical expertise throughout the assessment and said the bank will continue strengthening its cybersecurity framework.

Navaid Naqvi said the certification demonstrates Meezan Bank’s strong focus on cybersecurity, governance and protecting customer information. He added that aligning security practices with international standards enhances confidence in the bank’s digital banking services.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, PCI DSS compliance remains a key safeguard for protecting sensitive payment information and strengthening the resilience of Pakistan’s financial sector.
