foodpanda Showcases Cloud Kitchen Infrastructure to Media in Lahore

foodpanda hosted journalists and media representatives for a tour of its cloud kitchen infrastructure, highlighting how delivery-only kitchens can help food entrepreneurs expand their businesses and reach customers in new areas.

The media briefing offered a closer look at the operations behind cloud kitchens, also known as dark kitchens. The company said these facilities can lower entry barriers for food businesses, improve access to delivery services and support local entrepreneurship across Pakistan.

Journalists Observe Kitchen Operations and Food Safety Measures

During the tour, journalists observed the process from receiving orders and tracking inventory to preparing food, packaging orders and dispatching riders.

The delegation also inspected kitchen layouts, temperature-control systems, hygiene practices and rider pickup arrangements. According to foodpanda, these procedures aim to support food safety, operational efficiency and consistent delivery services.

The visit was intended to provide media representatives with a better understanding of the systems used to manage delivery-only kitchen operations.

Cloud Kitchens Create Opportunities for Food Entrepreneurs

Moeen Qureshi, Head of Kitchen at foodpanda Pakistan, said cloud kitchens were becoming an important part of the country’s changing urban food landscape.

“Cloud kitchens represent an important pillar in the evolution of Pakistan’s urban food landscape. By hosting our media partners for an open, transparent look at our kitchen operations, we hope to highlight how digital infrastructure empowers small food businesses, creates sustainable livelihoods for local chefs, and ensures reliable food access for consumers. Our focus remains on combining culinary innovation with operational excellence to support an inclusive food ecosystem across the country,” Qureshi said.

Cloud kitchens operating through foodpanda’s platform allow established restaurant brands, independent food concepts and home-based chefs to serve customers in additional neighbourhoods without investing in traditional dine-in premises.

The company provides kitchen infrastructure and technology-enabled demand insights, while its platform supports logistics, digital integration and delivery operations. This arrangement allows participating businesses to focus on food preparation and product quality while accessing a wider customer base.

Company Highlights Hygiene and Operational Standards

The walkthrough also covered staff safety training, hygiene audits and compliance with applicable local food authority guidelines.

Foodpanda said these measures form part of its approach to maintaining operational standards and addressing concerns about food safety in delivery-only kitchens.

The visit highlighted the growing role of digital platforms and shared kitchen facilities in Pakistan’s food sector. However, the long-term benefits for participating businesses depend on factors such as operating costs, customer demand, food quality and the commercial terms offered by the platform.
