Broadway Pizza has opened its 82nd branch near Gulshan-e-Maymar in Karachi, expanding its footprint as the company continues to invest in the country’s food and restaurant sector despite difficult economic conditions.

The new outlet was inaugurated on the main road adjacent to Hadiabad Society. It can accommodate around 60 to 70 customers, with a particular focus on families. Online ordering and home delivery will remain important parts of the company’s business model.

Speaking exclusively about the expansion, Broadway Pizza Founder and Chairman Javed Masood said the company places strong emphasis on honesty and quality.

He said the decision to open new outlets follows detailed assessments of local demand, market conditions and consumer requirements.

Masood acknowledged that operating a formal business in Pakistan remains challenging, particularly for companies that provide employment to large numbers of people.

According to him, Broadway Pizza has created employment opportunities for approximately 2,500 to 3,000 people across its operations, describing the contribution as a source of pride.

He said financial pressures on the state have also increased the responsibilities placed on the business community, with companies expected to contribute significantly through taxes and other economic activity.

Despite these challenges, he said Broadway Pizza has continued its expansion by identifying areas where demand for its products is growing.

The company has already established outlets across Karachi and Hyderabad. Masood said management monitors consumer demand and considers opening additional branches when market conditions justify further investment.

Discussing the company’s franchise strategy, he said Broadway Pizza operates most of its outlets directly in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The company has granted franchises on a more limited basis in smaller cities.

Masood said maintaining consistent food quality and operational standards can become more difficult under a franchise model, which is why the company prefers to retain direct control over most of its major-city outlets.

The businessman said Broadway Pizza has reached its current scale after roughly 14 to 15 years of sustained effort. His experience in the food industry, however, goes back even further, helping him develop the business before expanding the pizza brand across Pakistan.

He said the company also aims to keep its food affordable, with some offerings available in the range of Rs300 to Rs400.

The newly opened branch has been designed with families, students and young customers in mind. Several schools are located near the outlet, while the company is also targeting areas with younger and educated populations.

Masood said business success requires more than favourable circumstances. He identified hard work, sound decision-making, education and vision as important factors alongside opportunity and luck.

He said circumstances can influence the early stages of a person’s life, but long-term success depends on continued effort and the ability to choose the right direction.

Masood also recalled an opportunity he received when Broadway Pizza had around 13 or 14 branches. A British organisation offered him the chance to establish two outlets in the United Kingdom and create employment for six people for two years.

Despite the offer, he decided to remain in Pakistan and continue developing the business locally.

He said moving to the UK could have resulted in his future generations becoming increasingly disconnected from Pakistan. Instead, he chose to stay and build the company in his home country.

The opening of the 82nd outlet marks another step in Broadway Pizza’s expansion strategy, with the company continuing to focus on direct operations, affordable food and locations where consumer demand remains strong.
