Anupam Kher, 71, said he recently reached out to Govinda and encouraged his longtime colleague to stay focused despite personal difficulties.
Kher has worked with Govinda in several successful films. Speaking to Faridoon Shahryar, he said he did not consider himself qualified to judge Govinda or his personal circumstances.
“I am no one to pass a judgment on him. He knows his life better, and he can deal with it.”
Kher said he previously called Govinda and received a response that the actor would call him back.
“I wanted to tell him, this too shall pass,” Kher said, adding that everyone goes through difficult periods in life.
Kher suggested that Govinda may have struggled with circumstances surrounding his personal life.

However, he said the actor had not given up and could still make a comeback.
“I don’t think the problem is that he doesn’t know how to market himself,” Kher said. “I think he has gotten bogged down by his surroundings, by his life, but he hasn’t given up yet, so there is hope.”
Kher also expressed hope that Govinda would return to the screen with more projects.
“I pray that he bounces back and does much more than he is doing,” he said.
Kher’s comments come amid reports and public remarks about Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s marriage.
Sunita has reportedly addressed allegations involving Govinda and actor Komal Swarnkar. She has also previously indicated that she would find it difficult to forgive him.
Several reports have claimed that Govinda and Sunita currently live separately.
