Shehbaz Sharif Says Children’s Future Must Not Depend on Family Wealth

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed that every talented child in Pakistan deserves equal access to quality education, regardless of family income.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a Danish School in Islamabad on Sunday, he said the initiative aims to expand educational opportunities for deserving children. It also seeks to narrow the gap between wealthy and underprivileged families.

The prime minister congratulated students, parents and teachers at the ceremony. He said documentaries and accounts of students’ achievements had inspired and encouraged those in attendance.

PM Highlights Student’s Journey from Hardship to Success

Shehbaz highlighted the story of a girl from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who lost her father during childhood. Financial difficulties threatened her education, but she continued her studies and eventually became a doctor.

Her journey showed how education can help talented children overcome difficult circumstances and serve society, the prime minister said.

He added that intelligence and talent were not limited to any particular social class. Therefore, children from every background deserved opportunities to develop their abilities and achieve their goals.

Danish Schools Aim to Bridge Education Gap

The prime minister noted that millions of Pakistani families struggle to afford basic necessities. Many parents work in difficult conditions in fields and farms, yet still face challenges in meeting household expenses and funding their children’s education.

He described it as an injustice when talented children from low-income families miss educational opportunities because of financial constraints. Meanwhile, children from affluent households can attend leading institutions at home and abroad.

Shehbaz said the Danish Schools initiative seeks to address this inequality by providing quality education to deserving students, particularly those from disadvantaged communities.

Recalling the programme’s launch in Punjab in 2010, he said it aimed to help talented children from remote areas and underprivileged backgrounds. The initiative gives them an opportunity to pursue education and succeed through their abilities and hard work.

PM Calls for Renewed Commitment to Founding Ideals

Reflecting on Pakistan’s creation in 1947, Shehbaz recalled how Muslims left their homes and assets behind to build a new country.

He said they hoped to establish a society based on justice, merit and hard work. He also called for national self-assessment to determine how far Pakistan had progressed towards fulfilling those aspirations.

The prime minister reiterated that a child’s wealth or family background should never determine access to education or opportunities for progress.

He described Danish Schools as a source of hope for children who could transform their lives with the right opportunities. Such students, he said, could contribute to national development and public service.

Federal ministers, diplomats, senior officials, students, parents and teachers attended the ceremony.
