Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has assigned the additional charge of Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) vice chancellor to University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Wasim Qazi.

The decision took effect on Monday, October 12, 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Sindh government.

Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Secretary of the Universities and Boards Department, issued the notification confirming the appointment.

Under the order, Professor Dr Wasim Qazi will oversee KMU’s vice chancellor responsibilities alongside his existing duties at the University of Karachi.

He will continue to hold the additional charge until the government appoints a regular vice chancellor for Karachi Metropolitan University.

The decision ensures interim leadership at KMU while the process to appoint a permanent vice chancellor remains pending.
