Basant 2027 Lahore to Host 10-Day Festival From January 29

Basant 2027 in Lahore will run for 10 days from January 29 to February 7, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved. The celebrations will pause on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day.

The announcement marks a change from the earlier plan for a three-day festival in March 2027. The Punjab government has now scheduled the extended celebrations for the start of the year.

Festival Plans

Maryam Nawaz described the 10-day festival as a gift for the people of Lahore. She said the event would help promote Punjab’s cultural heritage and Lahore’s historic traditions around the world.

The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to begin preparations for the extended festival. She also called for better arrangements for public safety and convenience than those made during the previous celebrations.

Basant returned to Lahore earlier this year after a long gap. The city hosted the festival from February 6 to 8, 2026.

Focus on Safety

The chief minister urged citizens to celebrate responsibly. She asked people to show a strong sense of duty and protect human lives during the festivities.

Authorities have also been preparing safety measures for the 2027 festival. Lahore’s district administration says it is working to prevent the movement of illegal kite-flying materials into the city.

The government has said preparations will focus on both cultural activities and public safety as Lahore prepares for the extended festival.
