Sindh Judicial Commission Seeks Extension in Mir Raza Ali Murder Case

The judicial commission investigating the murder of Mir Raza Ali has sought an extension of its tenure from the Sindh government.

The commission’s current term expired a day before its latest proceedings.

Headed by Justice Umar Sial, the commission was formed by the Sindh government to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into the murder.

The commission issued a written order after reviewing the status of its tenure and the government’s request for an extension.

Commission Awaits Sindh Cabinet Decision

According to the order, the commission had requested an extension until October 15.

The Sindh government’s focal person informed the commission that the summary seeking the extension had been approved by the chief minister.

The summary was then forwarded to the Sindh Cabinet for a final decision.

The cabinet is expected to meet on October 1, according to the written order.

The commission therefore adjourned the proceedings until October 2.

Further Proceedings Depend on Extension

The commission said it would not summon additional witnesses if the Sindh Cabinet rejects the extension request.

In that situation, the commission will prepare its report using the statements and evidence recorded so far.

It will then submit the report at the earliest opportunity.

However, the proceedings will continue if the Sindh Cabinet approves the extension.

The commission said it would issue fresh notices to witnesses after receiving confirmation of the extended tenure.

It will also send questionnaires to three senior police officers as part of the investigation.

The commission’s next proceedings are scheduled for October 2, when the status of its tenure is expected to become clearer.
