Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the fourth phase of the Green Tractor Scheme through digital balloting and opened the application portal for its fifth phase.
The Punjab government plans to provide 19,500 tractors to farmers during the current fiscal year through the two phases.
Maryam Nawaz pressed a button to conduct the digital balloting for Phase IV. The first tractor was allocated to Masood Khan, son of Lal Khan, from Attock.
According to the Punjab Agriculture Department, Phase IV will provide 10,000 tractors with 50 to 65 horsepower. The government will offer a subsidy of Rs750,000 per tractor.
Phase V will offer 9,500 high-powered tractors ranging from 75 to 125 horsepower. The subsidy for each tractor will be Rs1 million.
More than 213,637 farmers applied for the Green Tractor Programme.
Following verification through the Punjab Land Records Authority and NADRA, 128,757 applicants were declared eligible for the Phase IV balloting.
The Phase IV programme is aimed at farmers owning at least five acres of agricultural land, according to the provincial Agriculture Department.

The provincial government said 24,000 tractors had already been provided to farmers under the programme, with subsidies of up to Rs1 million per tractor.
The government has allocated Rs17.6 billion for the Green Tractor Programme, according to the briefing.
The Punjab Agriculture Department’s current programme information separately lists Phase IV and Phase V as major initiatives for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The briefing also highlighted the introduction of locally manufactured 90-horsepower tractors and the local assembly of 100-horsepower models.
Agriculture Minister Ashiq Kirmani said the programme had contributed to increased tractor manufacturing and sales in Punjab.
The launch of Phase IV was accompanied by the opening of the application portal for Phase V.
The fifth phase will focus on higher-powered tractors between 75 and 125 horsepower.
The Punjab Agriculture Department has published the Green Tractor Programme as one of the chief minister’s agriculture initiatives for 2026-27.
