Navy Day 2026 Naval Chief Pays Tribute to Pakistan Navy’s Sacrifices and Legacy

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the Pakistan Navy on Navy Day 2026.

In his message marking September 8, the Naval Chief said nations are defined not only by their size and resources. He said national strength also depends on resolve and determination.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the Pakistan Navy faced limited resources and operational constraints after the country’s independence. Despite these challenges, he said the force remained committed to defending Pakistan’s maritime interests.

Operation Somnath Remembered on Navy Day

The Naval Chief highlighted Operation Somnath, which the Pakistan Navy carried out on September 8, 1965.

According to the message, the operation targeted coastal radar installations at Dwarka. Admiral Ashraf described it as an example of the Pakistan Navy’s offensive capability and strategic planning.

He said the operation demonstrated how determination and courage could produce significant effects despite material and numerical limitations.

The Naval Chief said the legacy of Operation Somnath remains an important part of Pakistan Navy history. He also linked that legacy to the navy’s stated deterrence role in more recent developments.

GHAZI Legacy and Undersea Deterrence

Admiral Ashraf also recalled the role of Pakistan Navy submarine GHAZI in developing the country’s undersea deterrence capability.

He described GHAZI’s legacy as an important milestone in the development of Pakistan’s submarine force.

The Naval Chief said the Pakistan Navy has since entered a new phase with the induction of HANGOR Class submarines.

According to his message, the new submarines represent advances in technology, combat capability and maritime deterrence.

Tribute to Pakistan Navy Shuhada and Ghazis

The Naval Chief paid tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis of the Pakistan Navy.

He said their sacrifices helped safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty and maritime frontiers. He also said their courage continues to inspire younger generations.

Admiral Ashraf stressed that the values of sacrifice, courage and commitment remain central to the Pakistan Navy.

He said the journey from GHAZI to HANGOR reflects the continuing evolution of Pakistan’s naval capabilities.

Navy Day Message Highlights Future Commitment

The Naval Chief said the Pakistan Navy will continue to build on the legacy of its predecessors.

He emphasised courage, professionalism and commitment to national defence as key values for future generations.

The message concluded with a prayer for guidance and protection, followed by the slogans “Pakistan Navy Zindabad” and “Pakistan Paindabad.”
