KARACHI: Sindh Police have issued their first detailed statement in 19 days on the Mir Raza murder case, saying a high-level investigation team is examining medical, forensic and digital evidence to resolve outstanding questions surrounding the case.
The police said the team is reviewing medical reports, digital evidence and records from the earlier investigation. Investigators are also incorporating information obtained from family members, friends and other relevant sources.
The development comes as questions continue to surround the circumstances of Mir Raza’s death and the evidence collected during the investigation.
According to a Sindh Police press release, investigators have received two post-mortem reports, including one final report, along with three chemical analysis reports.
The latest chemical analysis report reached investigators on August 17.
Police said the team is conducting a detailed comparative review of the reports. Investigators have identified several issues that require further clarification and reconciliation.
The team is now seeking additional information and verification from relevant authorities and institutions.
Police said resolving the outstanding points could help investigators establish connections between different parts of the case and the available evidence.
Investigators are also examining digital evidence linked to the case.
Sindh Police have contacted the Punjab Forensic Science Agency to analyse data from a mobile phone and smartwatch.
The police have also approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over matters involving digital currency.
Officials from Apple have been contacted to seek assistance in unlocking the mobile phone, according to the police statement.
Investigators believe the digital evidence could help establish a clearer timeline and provide additional information relevant to the inquiry.
The police said the investigation team is assessing the evidence collectively rather than relying on a single report or source.
Jibran Nasir, the lawyer representing Mir Raza’s family, expressed concern over the police statement.
Nasir said repeated references to ambiguities and a lack of clarity in medical and chemical reports were worrying.
He called for a transparent investigation based on the evidence and reports already available.
Nasir also raised concerns about what he described as a potential attempt to promote a suicide narrative.
In a post on X, he warned: “Any attempts to push narrative of suicide will be suicide for Sindh govt and police’s credibility.”
His comments came shortly after Sindh Police said investigators had identified points in the reports that required further clarification.

The police statement marks the first detailed public update from Sindh Police in 19 days.
The investigation team is now examining several categories of evidence, including post-mortem findings, chemical analysis, digital data, forensic material and information gathered from people connected to the case.
Police said the process remains focused on resolving inconsistencies and verifying outstanding information.
The involvement of forensic, cybercrime and technology specialists indicates that investigators are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry.
For the family, however, the demand remains for a clear and evidence-based conclusion about what happened to Mir Raza.
As investigators await further verification and technical analysis, the case continues to draw scrutiny over the medical evidence, digital records and competing questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
