Pakistan Women’s Netball Team Crush South Korea 72-23 to Boost Plate Division Hopes

The Pakistan women’s netball team produced a commanding display in Hong Kong on Tuesday, defeating South Korea 72-23 to secure their second victory in the Plate Division of the Asian Women’s Netball Championship.

Pakistan dominated the contest from the opening whistle, combining disciplined defence with an organised attacking game to build a commanding lead. The Green-shirts maintained their composure throughout the match and eventually secured a comprehensive 49-point victory.

Lia Raza Shah, Farah, Noor-ul-Ain and Samaya were among Pakistan’s standout performers, making important contributions as the team controlled the match from start to finish.

Pakistan’s attacking unit showed strong coordination and accuracy, while the defence kept South Korea under sustained pressure. The Korean side struggled to close the gap despite attempts to fight back, allowing Pakistan to continue extending its advantage until the final whistle.

The emphatic result provides a major confidence boost for Pakistan as they continue their campaign in the tournament. The Asian Netball Championships are being held in Hong Kong in August and also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 Netball World Cup.

Pakistan had earlier opened their campaign with a victory over Japan before suffering a defeat against Thailand. Their dominant response against South Korea has put the team back in contention for a place in the Plate Division final.

The Green-shirts will face Chinese Taipei in their next match on Wednesday. A victory would strengthen Pakistan’s chances of reaching the Plate Division final, which features five teams.

The tournament carries added importance because the Plate Division winner will earn promotion to the Cup Division for the next edition. Meanwhile, the team finishing sixth in the Cup Division this year will drop into the Plate Division.

Pakistan will therefore enter their final fixture with a clear objective: secure another victory and keep their hopes of winning the Plate Division alive.

The South Korea victory also demonstrated the team’s ability to recover strongly after a setback and maintain its competitive challenge in the tournament. With their attacking rhythm and defensive organisation improving, Pakistan will look to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s decisive encounter.
