Economic Diplomacy Forum Honours Malaysian and Iraqi Consuls General at Karachi Farewell

KARACHI: Economic Diplomacy Forum hosted a farewell breakfast in Karachi to honour the outgoing Consuls General of Malaysia and Iraq for their contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting economic cooperation with Pakistan.

The ceremony, held at Beach Luxury Hotel, recognised H.E. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia, and H.E. Dr. Maher Mjhid Jejan, Consul General of the Republic of Iraq, for their diplomatic service and efforts to enhance trade, investment and people-to-people ties.

Diplomatic Community Attends Ceremony

The event brought together senior members of the diplomatic corps, including Japan’s Consul General Hattori Masaru, Acting Consul General of China Feng Deheng, Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner Sakib Sadakat, as well as leading businessmen, industrialists and representatives of Pakistan’s business community.

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Founder President of the Economic Diplomacy Forum, said the gathering was intentionally kept small to pay tribute to two diplomats whose efforts strengthened friendship and economic cooperation between Pakistan, Malaysia and Iraq.

He thanked both diplomatic missions for supporting the forum’s initiatives and promoting dialogue, trade, investment and mutual understanding.

Dr. Afzal said diplomatic assignments may come to an end, but the goodwill and friendships built during such tenures continue to strengthen international relations for years.

Outgoing Envoys Reaffirm Strong Ties

Malaysian Consul General Herman Hardynata Ahmad thanked the forum for the farewell reception and expressed appreciation for the hospitality he received during his tenure in Karachi.

He said Malaysia and Pakistan share longstanding friendly relations and voiced confidence that cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism and cultural exchanges would continue to expand.

Iraqi Consul General Dr. Maher Mjhid Jejan also thanked the Economic Diplomacy Forum for organising the event. He reaffirmed the brotherly relationship between Iraq and Pakistan and stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, education, investment and cultural exchanges.

He also thanked the people of Karachi for their friendship and wished both countries continued prosperity.

Business Community Pays Tribute

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Rehan Hanif praised both diplomats for strengthening Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Malaysia and Iraq.

He acknowledged their role in promoting business-to-business cooperation and encouraged continued engagement between the diplomatic corps and Pakistan’s private sector to create more trade and investment opportunities.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of Shields of Appreciation and Farewell Tribute to both outgoing Consuls General. The Economic Diplomacy Forum also presented traditional Sindhi Ajraks and caps as symbols of Sindh’s cultural heritage and hospitality.
