Flower Seller Killed After Speeding SUV Runs Over Family Sleeping on Karachi Footpath

Karachi accident incidents claimed multiple lives on Wednesday, including a flower seller who died after a speeding SUV ran over his family as they slept on a footpath near Bukhari Commercial in Defence Phase VI.

Police said 45-year-old Khadim died at the scene, while his four-year-old son, Zeeshan, suffered injuries. Another child escaped unharmed. Rescue workers shifted the victims to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

According to the family, Khadim sold flowers for a living and lived near Nasir Jump in Korangi. His children had started helping him sell flowers after he suffered a leg injury.

“My father and my two younger brothers were resting on the footpath while I was selling flowers at a nearby traffic signal,” Khadim’s son said. He added that passersby informed him about the crash.

Eyewitnesses said the driver lost control of the double-cabin SUV before running over the family. The driver later took the victims to a private hospital near Kala Pul but fled with the vehicle. Witnesses said the SUV displayed the number AFR-2026 instead of a proper registration plate.

Police have collected CCTV footage from the area and launched efforts to identify and arrest the driver. Authorities later handed Khadim’s body over to his family after completing legal formalities.

In a separate incident, an unidentified vehicle struck and killed 30-year-old Saeed, son of Arshad, near Kababjees restaurant in Karimabad. Rescue officials shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

In another fatal crash, a speeding truck hit a motorcycle carrying a woman and her son near the Pakistan Marine Academy in Mauripur. The woman, identified as 50-year-old Hafiza, wife of Shahid Ahmed, died at the scene, while her young son survived without injuries.

Police said the truck driver fled after the collision. Authorities seized the truck and launched a search to arrest the suspect.

Separately, 30-year-old factory worker Abid, son of Nazim Hussain, died after suffering an electric shock while working at a factory near Kakar Compound in Rashidabad, SITE Area. Rescue workers shifted his body to Civil Hospital before authorities handed it over to his family after completing legal procedures.
