Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hazara has announced a peaceful protest and blockade of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) on August 7 against petrol prices and rising inflation, calling on people across Hazara Division to join the demonstrations.

JI Hazara Ameer Abdul Razzaq Abbasi announced the protest in line with the nationwide campaign launched by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

Speaking at a press conference at the Abbottabad Press Club, Abbasi said the party would organise peaceful demonstrations at key locations in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Pattan and Dasu. He added that people from all walks of life were expected to participate.

Deputy Ameer Hazara Amjad Khan Jadun, Hazara Qayyim Javed Akhtar, Trade Wing President Raja Imran, youth leader Malik Tanveer Awan and other party leaders also attended the press conference.

Abbasi warned that Jamaat-e-Islami would intensify its protest campaign if the government failed to address public concerns over rising fuel prices and inflation.

He said the party would launch the next phase of its movement, including a march on Islamabad, if authorities did not respond to its demands.

Abbasi criticised the government’s repeated increases in petrol and diesel prices, saying they had placed an unbearable financial burden on ordinary citizens and contributed to the rising cost of living.
