Karachi, July 13, 2026: Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi paid tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, reaffirming Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their right to self-determination.
In his message, he described the sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs as a defining chapter in the history of the Kashmir freedom movement. According to the governor, their courage, commitment and dedication to truth, freedom and dignity continue to inspire generations.
Furthermore, he said the struggle of the Kashmiri people for freedom cannot be silenced through force or oppression. Instead, he argued that history has repeatedly shown that repression cannot overcome the determination of people seeking justice and fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, the governor reiterated that Pakistan would continue to support the people of Jammu and Kashmir at every political, moral and diplomatic forum. He also stressed that a just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute requires granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination in line with relevant United Nations resolutions and their aspirations.
In addition, Nehal Hashmi condemned what he described as human rights violations by Indian authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He urged the international community to take immediate notice of the situation and play an effective role in ensuring justice for the Kashmiri people.
Finally, marking Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, the governor said the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with Kashmiris and remain committed to supporting what he described as their legitimate struggle for self-determination.
