Israeli Strikes Kill Palestinians in Gaza as Former Israeli Generals Condemn Settler Violence

Israeli strikes killed Palestinians in Gaza on Tuesday, according to local health and security officials. Those reported killed included a member of Hamas’s internal security service and a 17-year-old girl.

Nasser Hospital in Hamas-run Gaza said three people arrived dead after an Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Several others were wounded.

Separately, Hamas’s Interior Ministry said an Israeli airstrike killed Mohammed Shalouf, a member of its internal security service, in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.

The Israeli military said it had struck military operatives in the area but provided no further details.

In another incident, an Israeli drone struck a tent in a park in Gaza City, killing a teenage girl, according to Gaza Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.

Al-Shifa Hospital identified the victim as 17-year-old Rimas al-Madhoun. The hospital said she was dead on arrival.

The reported deaths come amid continuing violence despite the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025 through US mediation.

Former Israeli Generals Condemn Settler Violence in West Bank

Meanwhile, a group of former senior Israeli military officials joined Palestinian farmers in harvesting olives in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

The initiative came amid reports of increased settler violence against Palestinians during the olive harvest season.

Former Major General Eyal Ben-Reuven said he had organised a group of around 30 former senior military officials, including six generals, several months ago.

He said the group wanted to support Palestinian farmers facing attacks and restrictions while harvesting their crops.

“When I see what is going on here, when I see these guys come… and hit women and kids, it reminds me of stories from my parents from the time when the Jewish people suffered,” Ben-Reuven said.

He compared the attacks by militant settlers to pogroms.

Former Colonel Doron Meinert also criticised the occupation and called for a joint effort to address the situation.

“Occupation is the main problem of Israeli society. I believe we must deal with it, we cannot ignore it. We must try to solve it together with the Palestinians,” Meinert said.

Former Brigadier General Jonatan Yoni said settler violence was damaging Israel’s international standing.

“Strategically, tactically, it’s creating problems for the state of Israel in the West and the United States,” he said.

Yoni added that concern for Palestinian farmers and opposition to Israeli annexation of the West Bank had motivated his participation.

Palestinian Farmers Report Restrictions and Attacks

Nimr Nazzal, a Palestinian landowner near the village of Qusra, said the presence of former Israeli military officials helped him access his olive trees.

He said settler attacks had made it difficult for him to reach his land safely.

Nazzal also accused the Israeli military of supporting settlers involved in the attacks.

“The army is protecting the settlers,” he said.

The Israeli rights group Yesh Din reported 180 physical attacks on Palestinian olive harvesters during the first 35 days of the harvest season.

The organisation also said Israeli military personnel were present in more than 23 per cent of the cases of settler violence it recorded.

Palestinians have accused Israeli forces of responding slowly to calls for help or assisting settlers involved in attacks. The Israeli military denies these allegations and says it condemns violence and works to maintain security in the West Bank.

The participation of former senior Israeli military officials in the olive harvest has drawn attention to growing criticism of settler violence within parts of Israeli society.
