Two young men, including the nephew of Indian singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, were killed in a road accident in Jalandhar, Punjab, Indian media reported.

The accident occurred around 3am on a flyover near Police Lines. A car returning from a birthday celebration collided with a tractor-trolley parked on the road.

The victims were identified as Vidat Olakh and Aarav Talwar. Indian media reports identified Olakh as Honey Singh’s nephew and the son of Dinesh, owner of Punjabi music label Speed Records. Talwar was reportedly the son of a local sweet shop owner.

Police said municipal sanitation workers were cleaning the flyover when the accident occurred. They had parked the tractor-trolley on the road to collect garbage.

The car was travelling from BMC Chowk towards BSF Chowk when it struck the stationary vehicle.

According to police, five people had been travelling in the car before the crash. Olakh and Talwar died at the scene. The other three occupants had reportedly returned to their homes earlier.

Police said the victims’ families declined legal proceedings. Authorities subsequently handed over the bodies to the families.

Following the tragedy, Honey Singh shared an Instagram story expressing grief over his nephew’s death. He described the loss as a devastating personal tragedy.
