Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields are bringing their rock duo, Dead Man’s Bones, back after a 17-year break. The pair will release new music on October 27, 2026.
The duo announced its return on Instagram on Thursday, October 22. Fans can expect the eerie atmosphere that made the project known for songs about ghosts, monsters and the supernatural.
Dead Man’s Bones released its self-titled debut album in 2009. The record featured the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. It blended rock music, haunting vocals and atmospheric arrangements to create a distinctive sound.
The upcoming release will mark the duo’s first new music since their debut album.
The band shared a mysterious video to announce its comeback. In the teaser, a haunting voice recites a poem about ghosts returning to the world.

The video ends with the words, “All of this must change Oct. 27”. A young girl’s voice then announces the release date.
The teaser revives the supernatural style that helped define Dead Man’s Bones.
Gosling’s partner, Eva Mendes, also hinted at the comeback on social media. She previously wrote, “Trying to summon new music from Dead Man’s Bones”.
After the announcement, Mendes added, “He came through on his promise to me.”
Gosling has continued to showcase his musical abilities during the band’s long break. His performances in La La Land and Barbie introduced his singing to a wider audience.
In Barbie, he performed “I’m Just Ken”, which earned a Grammy nomination. He also sang the song live at the 2024 Academy Awards.
Now, Gosling is returning to music with Shields. Their comeback could renew interest in a project that blends indie rock with gothic themes.
The announcement comes as Gosling continues his acting career. He stars in Project Hail Mary, a science-fiction film that has attracted awards-season attention.
He is also set to appear in Star Wars: Starfighter, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
Meanwhile, reports have linked Gosling to Ghost Rider. However, his involvement remains unconfirmed and requires verification before publication.
For now, fans are waiting for October 27. The date could mark the return of Dead Man’s Bones and its first new music in nearly two decades.
