National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has won the “Sustainable Infrastructure Initiative of the Year – Pakistan” award at the Asian Banking & Finance (ABF) Corporate & Investment Banking Awards 2026.

The award recognizes NBP’s role in arranging PKR 850 million in Islamic project financing. The facility will support solar energy systems at cellular tower sites across Pakistan.

The awards ceremony took place in Singapore. It recognizes innovation and excellence in corporate and investment banking across Asia.

NBP provided advisory, structuring and financing support to Infraelectric (Pvt.) Limited (IFPL), a renewable energy solutions provider.

NBP Supports Solar Energy Infrastructure

Under the transaction, NBP structured and arranged the PKR 850 million Islamic financing facility for IFPL. The funding will support the installation of solar photovoltaic systems at cellular tower sites.

The project aims to make telecommunications infrastructure cleaner and more energy-efficient. It will also support Pakistan’s shift towards renewable energy and lower-carbon operations.

Solar-powered cellular towers can help reduce reliance on conventional energy sources. They can also support more sustainable energy use across telecommunications networks.
