Barcelona Beat Getafe 3-0 as Real Madrid Edge Villarreal in LaLiga

Barcelona maintained their perfect LaLiga start with a convincing 3-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday. Real Madrid also secured a narrow win, beating Villarreal 1-0 despite Vinicius Jr’s late dismissal.

Barcelona’s eighth consecutive league victory preserved their five-point lead over Atletico Madrid. Atletico secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Alaves with a late goal from Cristian Romero.

Real Madrid remained third with 18 points, six behind Barcelona. However, their latest victory offered limited evidence of improvement in their overall performances.

Barcelona Maintain Dominance Against Getafe

Barcelona returned from the international break in impressive form. They took the lead after just two minutes when Anthony Gordon cut inside and fired a shot. The effort deflected off Getafe midfielder Mario Martin before beating goalkeeper David Soria.

Getafe struggled to escape their own half under Barcelona’s sustained pressure. Gabriel Jesus capitalised on a mistake by Zaid Romero to score around the half-hour mark. The goal came in his first start for Barcelona.

The hosts continued to control the match after the break. Getafe managed just one notable test of goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who had recently returned from injury.

Jules Kounde sealed the victory in the 73rd minute. He finished comfortably from Lamine Yamal’s curling cross after missing a clear opportunity in the first half.

Real Madrid Win Despite Vinicius Jr Red Card

Real Madrid created the better chances early against Villarreal. Kylian Mbappe struck the post with a seventh-minute effort.

However, Madrid struggled to control possession and create consistent attacking opportunities. Villarreal also lacked precision, leaving both sides with limited clear chances before the break.

The match opened up in the second half. Yan Diomande broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute after beating the offside trap and finding the bottom corner. It was the Ivory Coast forward’s first goal for Real since joining in August.

Vinicius Jr entered the match after 52 minutes, replacing wing-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Brazilian quickly added energy to Madrid’s attack.

Eight minutes after the opener, Vinicius appeared to score Madrid’s second goal. Jose Mourinho even ran towards the goal line to celebrate.

However, a VAR review overturned the goal. Officials then sent Vinicius off for pulling substitute Nathan Saliba’s hair during the build-up.

The dismissal sparked angry reactions from Mourinho and his players. Madrid responded with determined defending to protect their lead despite playing with 10 men.

Both goalkeepers produced important saves as the match became more open. Villarreal failed to find a way through Madrid’s defence in the closing stages.

Mourinho did not attend his post-match press conference. The club gave no reason for his absence.

The Portuguese coach now turns his attention to Madrid’s next Champions League match against AS Roma. He will also seek greater consistency from his team.

Atletico Madrid Strike Late Against Alaves

Atletico Madrid claimed a 2-1 victory over Alaves with a late winner from Cristian Romero.

Alejandro Grimaldo opened the scoring after combining brilliantly with Jonathan David. Lucas Boye then converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time to level the match for Alaves.

Alaves suffered another setback when Angel Perez received a red card in the 61st minute. Atletico increased their pressure and finally broke through three minutes from full time.

Romero finished Alex Baena’s clever assist to secure all three points. The result kept Atletico five points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Rayo Vallecano Match Abandoned

Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano’s home match against Athletic Club was abandoned. Fan protests at Vallecas Stadium led to the stoppage.

The latest results strengthened Barcelona’s position at the top of the table. Real Madrid also collected three points, but their performance raised further questions about their consistency.
