Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a partnership agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways to add two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to its fleet.
The agreement marks a new step in PIA’s international expansion plans. The airline aims to increase capacity, meet growing passenger demand and improve global connectivity through direct flights.
PIA expects the two aircraft to join its fleet in November 2026. The airline plans to use them for long-haul services between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
The aircraft will support PIA’s operations across routes connecting the two countries. The agreement also aims to give passengers more travel options and improve capacity on routes serving the UK.

Under the partnership, Norse Atlantic will provide the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance through an ACMI arrangement. ACMI stands for Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance.
The arrangement will allow PIA to expand its long-haul capacity while Norse Atlantic redeploys aircraft from its fleet to new operating opportunities.
PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat said the UK remains an important market for the airline. He said the agreement would help PIA increase capacity and offer passengers more choices.

“We are pleased to partner with Norse Atlantic as we continue to strengthen our international network and respond to strong demand for direct travel between the two countries,” Hayat said.
He added that the Dreamliners would introduce a new aircraft type to the Pakistani market and expressed hope that they would deliver a premium travel experience for PIA passengers.
Norse Atlantic CEO Eivind Roald said the company had been working to redeploy aircraft capacity through new ACMI opportunities.
“We are pleased to support PIA’s long-haul capacity expansion and to strengthen connectivity between the UK and Pakistan,” Roald said.
He added that the agreement would give the large Pakistani community in the UK more travel options between the two countries. Roald also described the deal as the beginning of a potential strategic partnership between the two airlines.
