TASHKENT: The 11th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art, titled “Event Horizon,” will take place in Uzbekistan’s capital from October 12 to 16, bringing together contemporary artists from Uzbekistan and around the world.
The opening ceremony will be held on October 12 at the Central Exhibition Hall. During the five-day event, artworks will be displayed at several leading museums and galleries across Tashkent.
The biennale’s programme will also include a visit to Samarkand, offering international visitors and cultural tourists an opportunity to experience Uzbekistan’s contemporary art scene alongside its historic heritage.
Held every two years since 2001, the Tashkent International Biennale has become an important platform for contemporary art and cultural exchange.
This year’s theme, “Event Horizon,” explores the human condition at a time of rapid technological and cultural transformation. According to the event’s concept, Tashkent’s historic location at the crossroads of ancient caravan routes is presented as an “oasis” representing hope and the emergence of new meanings.
Following the opening ceremony, exhibitions will be launched at the Tashkent House of Photography, the Kamoliddin Behzad Museum of Miniature Art of the East, the Uzbekistan State Museum of Arts and the Ikuo Hirayama International Culture Caravanserai.
The programme will feature a range of activities, including artistic performances, masterclasses and an international scientific and practical conference.

The 11th biennale will conclude on October 16.
The previous edition, held in 2024, featured more than 40 international participants representing around 30 countries.
