KARACHI, October 6, 2026: Buying returned to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, pushing the benchmark KSE-100 Index more than 500 points higher in early trading.
The KSE-100 Index reached 166,421.01 points by 12:38pm, gaining 553.70 points, or 0.33%, from the previous close of 165,867.31.
The market opened on a positive note. By 9:33am, the index stood at 166,414.97 points, up 547.66 points, or 0.33%.
The index recorded an intraday high of 166,785.13 points and a low of 165,651.67 points. Trading volume reached 66.12 million shares, while the traded value stood at Rs4.39 billion.
Investors showed buying interest across several major sectors.
Activity remained strong in automobile assemblers, cement companies, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration firms, oil marketing companies, power generators and refineries.
The broad-based buying helped the benchmark maintain its positive momentum through midday trading.
The positive trend also followed a decline in international oil prices.
Resilient crude exports from the Middle East and the G7’s release of emergency oil reserves eased immediate concerns over global supply. However, ongoing security risks in the region continued to limit the decline.
Around 0650 GMT, Brent crude futures fell 83 cents, or 0.8%, to $99.49 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures declined $1, or 1.1%, to $88.43 a barrel.
Lower oil prices can influence investor sentiment in Pakistan because energy costs and external payments remain important factors for the economy.

In corporate developments, Sazgar Engineering Works (SAZEW) reported four-wheeler sales of 2,474 units during August and September 2026, according to Topline Securities.
The sales figure remained broadly flat compared with the same period last year.
By midday, the KSE-100 continued to trade firmly in positive territory. Investors maintained buying interest across key sectors as the market extended its early gains.
