BYD-MMC Reaches 10,000 Vehicles on Pakistan’s Roads

KARACHI, September 25, 2026: BYD has reached a milestone of 10,000 vehicles on Pakistani roads, according to Mega Motor Company (MMC), the automaker’s official partner in Pakistan.

The milestone marks the company’s rapid expansion in Pakistan’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market.

MMC said the achievement reflects growing consumer interest in electric and hybrid vehicles and increasing confidence in new energy mobility.

The milestone also comes as BYD-MMC prepares to begin local assembly in Pakistan.

BYD Expands Pakistan Vehicle Lineup

BYD entered the Pakistani market with the Atto 3 and Seal.

The company has since expanded its lineup to five models.

The range now includes the Atto 2, Sealion 7 and Shark 6.

MMC described the Atto 2 as Pakistan’s top-selling electric vehicle.

The Shark 6 is a plug-in hybrid pickup that MMC describes as Pakistan’s first PHEV pickup.

The expanded lineup allows BYD to target customers across different vehicle segments and driving requirements.

MMC Plans Major NEV Assembly Facility

Mega Motor Company CEO Aly Khan said the 10,000-vehicle milestone reflects more than sales growth.

He said MMC has focused on developing the infrastructure and capabilities needed to support new energy mobility in Pakistan.

“From the outset, our focus has been on building for the long term, establishing the capabilities, infrastructure and market presence needed to support this transition at scale,” Khan said.

He added that MMC is preparing to launch Pakistan’s first and largest NEV assembly facility.

The facility will mark the next stage of the company’s expansion in the country.

BYD Highlights Growing Consumer Confidence

BYD said Pakistan has become an important market in its global expansion.

Liu Xueliang, vice president of BYD Co. Ltd. and general manager of the BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, said consumer response had strengthened the company’s commitment to Pakistan.

“Every BYD owner who has chosen to embrace new energy technology reinforces our commitment to this market,” Liu said.

He added that BYD would continue working with MMC to provide products suited to Pakistani consumers.

The company also plans to introduce its technology and products as consumer demand develops.

Local Production to Strengthen NEV Ecosystem

The upcoming BYD-MMC facility is expected to become a major production centre for new energy vehicles in Pakistan.

MMC said the plant will be dedicated to the production of NEVs and will feature modern manufacturing technology.

The facility will also support the development of Pakistan’s wider NEV ecosystem.

Until now, BYD’s expansion has focused largely on bringing imported NEVs to Pakistani consumers.

Local assembly would shift the next phase towards domestic production.

The development could also support the growth of related services, technical skills and supply-chain capabilities around new energy vehicles.

As BYD reaches 10,000 vehicles on Pakistani roads, the company is now preparing to expand from market adoption towards local manufacturing.
