Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Pakistan Cables, Burj Clean Energy Modaraba (BCEM) and Orient Energy Systems (OES) have signed agreements for a 7.5-megawatt wind power project in Nooriabad, Sindh.

The project will supply renewable energy to Pakistan Cables’ factory. It also marks a new step in the company’s efforts to reduce energy costs and expand its use of clean power. The signing and financing arrangements were completed on Thursday.

Wind Power Project

Under an Ijarah agreement, BCEM will develop, own and operate the project. Pakistan Cables will use the facility as the lessee.

OES will handle engineering, procurement and construction. The company will use GOLDWIND turbine technology for the project.

HBL has provided financing for the project. The partnership aims to support Pakistan’s industrial sector while promoting renewable energy adoption.

Pakistan Cables already uses solar power in its energy mix. The addition of wind power will further reduce its dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

The company also expects the project to reduce its exposure to grid tariffs and fuel price fluctuations. It will also support a more stable and predictable electricity supply.

Companies Target Lower Energy Costs

BCEM CEO Nadeem Lodhi said the partnership would help Pakistan Cables manage energy costs while advancing its environmental goals.

Lodhi also thanked HBL for financing the project and OES for its execution capabilities and partnership with GOLDWIND.

Pakistan Cables CEO Fahd K. Chinoy said the project represents an important part of the company’s energy transition strategy.

“Securing 7.5 MW of dedicated wind power reduces our exposure to grid tariffs and fuel price volatility,” Chinoy said.

He added that the project would help the company reduce both costs and emissions.

BCEM Expands Clean Energy Portfolio

BCEM previously commissioned a 7.5MW wind power plant for Power Cement Limited in Nooriabad. The project helped establish wind power purchase arrangements for industrial customers.

The latest project builds on BCEM’s clean energy portfolio and expands its focus on reliable renewable power for Pakistan’s industrial sector.

OES CEO Nasim Ahmed said the project reflects growing interest in renewable energy among Pakistani industrial companies.

He said the partnership combines OES’s wind energy experience with GOLDWIND’s technology to strengthen energy security and improve cost competitiveness.
