K-pop influencer Mina Chan has died at the age of 26 after a TikTok livestream from her home reportedly prompted a concerned follower to contact authorities in South Korea.

Chan, a Japanese influencer based in South Korea and a dedicated fan of K-pop group ENHYPEN, had more than 80,000 followers on TikTok. The incident reportedly occurred during a livestream from her home on August 5.

Yongsan Police Station confirmed that officers discovered Chan’s body at around 5:33am after receiving a report from an acquaintance, according to the Korea Herald.

The circumstances surrounding her death have not been fully disclosed by authorities.

Chan’s younger sister confirmed her death in an Instagram Story the following day, describing her as kind and warm and asking followers to remember her in their thoughts and prayers.

The news came shortly after Chan had faced criticism from some ENHYPEN fans following an interaction at the group’s US concert in July.

According to reports, Chan had attempted to ask ENHYPEN member Sunoo to pass flowers to fellow member Ni-ki. The interaction reportedly led to criticism from some fans, with accusations that she had crossed personal boundaries.

Chan later addressed the controversy in a statement posted on X on July 31.

She apologised for what she described as taking advantage of Sunoo’s kindness and expressed regret to the singer and his fans.

Some commenters also raised concerns about the level of criticism and hostility Chan had faced online in the period before her death. Others remembered her as a kind and caring person and shared messages wishing her peace.
