Asim Munir, US Lawmakers Discuss Economic Cooperation and Regional Security at GHQ

RAWALPINDI: Asim Munir held high-level talks with two members of the United States House of Representatives at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where both sides discussed regional security, bilateral defence cooperation, trade expansion and economic collaboration.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, welcomed Congressman Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Congressman Michael James of Washington during their official visit to GHQ.

The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan-US relations through enhanced defence cooperation while exploring new opportunities for economic growth and commercial partnerships. The participants also exchanged views on regional security challenges and the importance of long-term stability.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s significant economic potential and stressed that sustainable regional peace depends on stronger economic growth, expanded trade and improved regional connectivity. He also outlined the country’s ongoing structural reforms, which aim to create a more business-friendly environment and attract greater foreign investment.

The visiting US lawmakers acknowledged Pakistan’s important contribution to regional stability and economic resilience. Drawing on their professional experience, both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral trade, encourage private-sector investment and deepen economic engagement between the two countries.

The US delegation thanked Pakistan’s military leadership for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic, commercial and institutional ties between Pakistan and the United States.
