Karachi, July 13, 2026: Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said blood donation is one of the greatest services to humanity, urging Pakistan’s youth to continue leading efforts against hepatitis and thalassemia through awareness, volunteerism and public health initiatives.

He made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the Statewide Blood Donation and Public Health Drive 2026, organised by the Volunteer Force Against Hepatitis Transmission (VFAHT).

During his address, the governor described Pakistan’s youth as the nation’s greatest asset and welcomed their active participation in tackling major public health challenges. According to him, young volunteers are making a meaningful contribution by promoting awareness and encouraging communities to take part in lifesaving initiatives.

Furthermore, Nehal Hashmi said donating blood benefits not only individuals in need but also society as a whole. He added that volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to public health, education and community welfare deserve recognition for their commitment.

Meanwhile, the governor stressed that awareness campaigns, early diagnosis and the promotion of safe blood donation remain essential in reducing the impact of hepatitis and thalassemia. He also encouraged all sections of society to actively support such programmes.

In addition, he praised VFAHT, the organisers, doctors, students, volunteers and supporting institutions for their efforts in making the campaign a success. He described the initiative as inspiring and hopeful while expressing confidence that similar programmes would strengthen Pakistan’s public health system.

Finally, the governor prayed for the continued success of the mission and expressed hope that such initiatives would contribute to a healthier, more prosperous and developed Pakistan.
